Molly Smith

BSc (Hons Physiotherapy), MCSP, HCPC
MSc Veterinary Physiotherapy, ACPAT Cat A

Hello! I’m Molly, a Chartered Physiotherapist and an ACPAT Category A Veterinary Physiotherapist based in East Yorkshire. I provide physiotherapy services for dogs and horses.

I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2018, earning a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. Since then, I have gained valuable experience across the NHS, private practice and charitable sectors, specialising in neurological rehabilitation and long-term conditions. My work has also included Hippotherapy - a specialised treatment approach that uses equine movement to achieve physiotherapy goals for children and adults with disabilities.

In 2023, I decided to further combine my lifelong passion for animals with my physiotherapy expertise by completing a Master's Degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy at Hartpury University.

Alongside my private work, I work part-time in the NHS as a Neurological Physiotherapist and lead an exercise group for people living with Parkinson’s Disease. I am also a National Classifier for Para Dressage, assessing and supporting riders with disabilities competing in equestrian sport. Outside of work, you’ll find me enjoying the Yorkshire countryside - running, cycling, camping and walking with my whippet, Percy.

Why should you choose an ACPAT Chartered Physiotherapist?

Choosing an ACPAT Category A Chartered Physiotherapist ensures your animal receives expert, professional care based on the latest scientific evidence and clinical best practice.

Unlike the title ‘Physiotherapist’, which is protected by law, the terms ‘Animal Physiotherapist’ or ‘Veterinary Physiotherapist’ are not regulated. This means anyone can use them, regardless of training or qualifications. Choosing an ACPAT Category A Chartered Physiotherapist ensures your animal receives expert, professional care based on the latest scientific evidence and clinical best practice. As a human physiotherapist, I am regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), which ensures I meet strict standards of training, ethics, and ongoing professional development.

My clinical background in human physiotherapy has provided me with advanced skills in anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, and pathology, along with refined clinical reasoning and hands-on techniques that directly translate into animal care. After completing my Master’s degree, I will have completed seven years of university training in physiotherapy, making me highly qualified to treat both animals and humans.
